TO ALL ABOVE IT SOUNDS LIKE YOU ALL ARE CONSUMING TOO MANY PRODUCTS OR FOODS WITH TOO MUCH msg AND ASPARTAME ....CHECK OUT WHAT THEY WILL DO TO YOU
I was reading your thread and wanted to let you in on some information that I just recently found out myself. I have Celiac disease which means that I have a malabsorbtion problem and I now have to take digestive enzymes. Anyone with digestion problems should not take the usual form of B12 which is bound to a cyanide molecule! Cyanocobalam sounds harmless enough, but certainly not if you are taking high doses and not breaking it down properly, as I was. Poisoned by vitamins, yes, it's possible. I now take the methylcobalam.
No, I didn't know that. This is what the label says and that's why I was taking one a day:
As a dietary supplement, take one lozenge daily. Chew lozenge or hold in mouth until dissolved.
Hi Deanna 22,
Do you know that 5000 mcg B12 is 5 years dose!
I got some skin reaction when I'm taking 200 mcg daily (2 months dose).
Strongly recommended never do that again.
Yes, I get cramping in my back, left arm and lower left side of my pelvis. The twitching is in my left arm, face, and back at different times. The reason I wondered about the B6 and B12 was because my blood showed very high levels of B6 and my B12 was 10,000 (not a typo). I was taking 5000mcg of B12 a day in a pill that dissolves under the tongue and a prenatal vitamin that my OB/GYN put me on a few years ago, even though I wasn't pregnant. I started having numbness, tingling and burning in different parts of my body at different times and was sent to a neurologist who did that blood work and told me to quit with the vitamins, which I did. But, he never told me if the cause of the muscle spasms and twitching was from the vitamins and I don't go back for a month so I just thought I could get an answer here.
Hi Deanna22,
I would also like to know why a person would have persistant cramping and maddening twitching of different body parts. Is your cramping anywhere but in your legs? I heard that leg cramps are common but not so common elsewhere. I get cramps in my hands, torso, pretty much anywhere there are muscles. And the periodic twitching. I really wish that would stop!
Have you heard that maybe vitamin B6 or 12 might be the cause?
I hope the doctor can enlighten us. Take care!
Kelly
B6 toxicity causes a sensory neuropathy with predominantly sensory symptoms rather than muscle spasms.
B12 in toxic doses does not cause these symptoms as far as I am aware.
