I am so worried about my husband!

He is 48 years old.  His speech is slurred most of the time.  He acts like he is mentally retarded off and on.  He has memory loss, confusion.  All of this occurs within one day and he has days where it seems better for a little while and then gets worse.  He is going to a neurologist, he's been in the hospital.  rushed there because they thought he was having a stroke,  they have not totally ruled out MS, but are not so sure that is what it is.  I am so scared.  He is not the man I married.  All of this is getting worse and worse and nothing seems to be found.  He needs help.  I am afraid to let him go to work some days.  He is getting more and more mean to me and our children.  I want him to get the medical help he needs or to atleast know what it is he has.  I wish we could get answers.  First time he was in hospital was Nov 2008

Please help?!

Have they checked him for depression. Depression can do alot of things. It can mess up your thinking, make you moody. and more i know i have been there and experience it firsthand. You would never think being depressed would work with your body that way but it does. They have checked me for stroke also and it was all due to stress.

Hi,

It is difficult to comment without knowing his complete medical history and results of neurological exam.
It is also important to know if he has undergone an MRI of brain and if yes, there was any positive finding.
Some of the causes of his symptoms include stroke, migraine, brain injury, delirium, MS and parkinson’s disease.
This requires further evaluation and tests by an experienced neurologist to ascertain the right cause.

Thanks
