Right now do your best to do things for yourself to reduce the stress from worrying about your mother until you find out for sure what is going on. It is hard to do, but it's the best thing you can do for both of you right now until you get more answers.
Some things that help are long walks, other types of exercise, relaxing music, doing hobbies like crafts and anything else that can help distract yourself even a little bit. Also, continue to do the best you can to focus on your school work for the remainder of your school year. That is very hard to do when kids are distracted with these things, but it is very important to do your best to do this in spite of how worried you are.
Here is a website that has relaxation music designed for sleeping and reducing stress:
http://www.soundsleeping.com/ Give it a try. It can't hurt. Best of all, you can play it on your computer any time you feel the need to do so for free. And, you can change the volume level of the various sounds they offer to get the right mix just for you. This is a great site to bookmark for future reference.
I'm still scared.
I don't know what's the problem with her.
She might be paralyzed right now and I wouldn't know, she might have been completely detached, maybe even had a change in behaviour I couldn't notice over the phone.
There could be a number of things wrong with her and I don't know whether she has them or not.
All I can do is guess.
Knowing my luck, she probably has something serious.
Hi there. The doctors need to differentiate whether your mother had an epilepsy episode or cerebro vascular accident/stroke clinically and with an MRI head. She will need intensive supervision and monitoring of various parameters like neurological status and organ system function like renal, cardiac and hepatic. Other causes of dizziness need to be checked for hypotension, hypertension, hypoglycemia etc. if this was a seizure episode, she will need to be treated with antiepileptic drugs. If it is a stroke, the intensivist needs to differentiate whether it is hemmorhagic or thrombotic and managed accordingly. Be composed and supportive to her instead of losing your cool. Take care.
Hello there. I am sorry to hear about what you are going throught. I strongly agree with everything that JDeeziac has stated " I read that marijuana is used to treat epilepsy, and then theres prescription drugs to control the seizures...im not suggesting your mom start smoking weed but this is all Ive read for treatment" " If youre religious pray the rosary and a few prayers to jesus and mary". Just try to research as much as possible about epilepsy and how it could be treated and just have faith and never lose hope that your mom will be okay. I will keep you and your mom in my prayers. Stay strong.
Hey you're in a tough situation especially for a 14 year old. I dont know too much about epilepsy except for its diagnosed using an eeg test..but u said she has epilepsy so finding out an effective way to treat it is the issue. I have been doing a lot of research as I feel that I have some amount of nerve damage in my head after injury eventhough my mri was clean except for what they called a small cyst in the frontal lobe of my brain...I dont know how they tell a cyst apart from a lesion especially when a lesion is very serious, but a cyst supposedly not so much....anyways back to your mom I read that marijuana is used to treat epilepsy, and then theres prescription drugs to control the seizures...im not suggesting your mom start smoking weed but this is all Ive read for treatment...Im sorry that you lost your dad and now you fear about losing your mom...its terrible to hear but its important to stay positive, and be greatful for your own health. You're 14 and boy I wish I could go back to those days but I didnt have the same problems at 14 that you're experiencing. If youre religious pray the rosary and a few prayers to jesus and mary...and again just be happy that you're healthy and im sure your mom will be fine when they find out how to better treat her and/or underlying cause of her epilepsy.
