Inflamed L5 nerve root

I have an L5 nerve root that is 3x the size it should be and have had surgery + steroid injections to try to fix it. The laminectomy didn’t work and the steroid injections only give pain relief for a few weeks. The nerve pain seems to be chronic as I’ve had it for a number of years. It’s worse at night and primarily on the outside of my left quad, with most discomfort at night that keeps we awake most of the night unless I dose up on Pregabalin.
Any advice? Has anyone found any different treatments that can help on a more permanent basis?
