I had this same problem with stinging sensation around the body.
Tests showed B-12 deficiency.
If your stomach does not produce Intrinsic Factor, you can not absorb B-12 from food or supplements and you get nerve injury due to that.
You need B-12 shots once a month, that is the only cure and it will take some time for the nerve injury to recover and the body to have sufficient B-12, so you should expect it to take a while before your symptoms subside.

Hi Sam, I had a rash and severe stinging all over most of my body for over a year tried every cream and prescription you could think of nothing was working, finally I realized something I have very very sensitive skin I was doing the wrong thing I was irritating my skin by using cream so I reversed my treatment, the rash looked like hives but I didn't have hives, I had an idea that it might be allergy related, so why not take an antihistamine so I took a Claritin or mucinex my rash was way better and the stinging stopped, I make a paste with powdered oatmeal I make the powder using a coffee grinder mix a little water with it put it all over my body and let it dry then rinse it off then dust with baby powder, skin allergies produce yeast in the body that is why you itch or sting all over so I use apple cider vinegar and swab my whole body with it before I bathe , my dermatitis is clearing up also, here I thought I needed cream and instead I needed to dry it up inside and out, make sure you drink lots of water, I hope this helps
I have had this problem for about 4 years. The sting lasts just over a min.and wakes me up.
Just adding an update to my previous post. We have now added a hematologist to the list of doctors and still no answers. He thought my son's condition maybe porphyria however the porphyria research center will not evaluate him because his symptoms do not mirror the condition completely and they don't believe that's what he has. So we are back at square 1 again.
He still suffers from pain and itching when he get hot in any circumstance. He cannot go out on the summertime and has to exercise in a cold room with limitations. Has anyone else experienced anything like this or had had anything like this diagnosed?
I've been having stinging, needles and pin sensations for several years now and with a lot of research have determined I have a MSG allergy. When discussing this originally with my doctor, he says that reactions/allergies can happen at any time in your life not necessarily when you're younger. I at first thought it was a withdrawal from pain maintenance medication that I am taking as I refused to take as many a day as I was subscribed. I also have several areas in the cervical neck area that are pressing on the spinal cord that cannot be corrected with surgery, along with pancreatic divisum which I was born with and a failed neck fusion. So with these things going on it was realistic for me to think that my stinging and burning could be from one of my medical conditions. However, I started noticing a pattern and it was usually within 1 to 2 hours after meals. I don't eat very well and sometimes skip breakfast and eat a late lunch. So I start paying attention to what I ate and I looking into possible reactions/allergies and found that the symptoms happen after ingestion foods with MSG. So I asked my doctor why now after years of eating food with MSG, I would start to have a problem with it and that's when he mentioned again allergies can happen at any time. Monosodium glutamate is used as a flavor enhancer and used in just about every processed food out there. After I eat I start feeling stinging on my lips and spreads out throughout my whole body to my toes. I can feel weak and lethargic and not always but most of the time palpitations and headaches. From what I've been told it cannot be detected an allergy test because it is considered a toxin, however I didn't inquire too much more about allergy testing for MSG. It just seems like no matter when I ate or what it was I ate within 1 to 2 hours I had this problem. It usually lasted for about an hour or several and then would subside slowly but I would be totally worn out and still have a headache. Once I ate something with MSG again it started all over. So I started trying to eliminate foods that didn't have MSG and found that in most cases it was almost near impossible to find something to eat that didn't have it. It's also hidden in different names on labels. So I started to look up just for the heck of it, not really expecting to find an answer, MSG antidote. This is what I found - http://www.naturalnews.com/036580_MSG_poisoning_remedies_symptoms.html
I found that if you use cream of tartar powder, a spice to make meringue, mix with water and preferably take that before you know you're going to be ingesting anything with MSG and in most cases prevents it from happening depending on how much of the MSG has been ingested. It neutralizes the MSG poisoning. Some of my triggers are pizza, canned/processed foods, most restaurant foods, soups even if it says no MSG, anything with soy sauce or teriyaki sauce, several different spices, gravies, canned an jarred spaghetti sauce, any type of Chinese food, breaded fried chicken, just about every fast food out there and much more. Like I said there's just too many to list. If I had forgotten to take the cream of tartar before eating, I make sure I take it afterwards and it would lower the intensity of the stinging and headache, but it would take up to an hour to take a affect. I also found that I would have similar reaction when I had anything with red/pink, orange or yellow dyes, which I found when taking Benadryl to help with other allergies my symptoms would get worse. So if I need Benadryl I get the die free and that seemed to help take care of that. If you research MSG foods symptoms etc. it will also list several symptoms besides stinging. I have never had problems like this before until I reached age 50 and the cream of tarter is the only thing that is helping with this. However, I do use less instead of more because you could get some stomach bloating. Keeping hydrated also flushes out the toxin, but again depends on how much has been ingested. Please know with me I had blood work, nerve tests, etc before concluding this is what I needed to try since nothing else was helping, so it might or might not work for you. Always best to check wth your doctor. I hope this helps someone.
