Itchy Heels

Quite by chance I found myself researching itchy heels. The is apparently a very common complaint, and those affected by it can't seem to get it diagnosed. It seems to afflict them when they are not standing, and is apparently worst when they lie down. They have trouble sleeping because the itching is so intense. I found a site with a couple of hundred entries from sufferers. There were only two helpful entries. One was from a podiatrist who claimed the cause was neurologic. One was from the only person who seemed to have been diagnosed correctly. She was told her calf muscles were entrapped. After surgery the itching went away. The tests for those sufferers whose doctors looked for a neurological problem came back negative.

I may have been one of the authors of the "itchy heels" posts you've found while researching. I can tell you in my case alone, the cause was Ativan withdrawal. Any benzodiazepine can cause it. Good luck.
