Jaw Tremor

Hi,
I have been suffering from avariety of issues around my neck and mouth. Have had a sensation of sore tounge, prickly toung particularly at back, sore mouth. Also a sensation that my tounge is too large in my mouth.  I now also have a very distinct Tremor in my lower jaw and my mouth seems to be watering a lot. It imptoves slightly if I eat. I was diagnosed earlier in the year with Thyroiditis.  Which supposedly got better.   I have a serious brain fog and my eyes are very light sensitive.
I have struggled with frequent herpes virus out breaks for over 30years.  Could I be getting Mild meningitis?

Hi, Thank you for your question. The symptoms you are describing bear resemblance to few possibilities like facial nerve palsy, trigeminal neuralgia MPDS( myofacial pain dysfunction) and then TMJ disorder due to strenuous opening of mouth for long sittings of RCT. Facial nerve palsy is characterized by inability to close eye, loss of sensation on affected part, difficulty in speaking and mask like face on affected side because facial nerve innervates facial muscles and any damage to facial nerve may cause inability make facial expressions like smiling, frowning etc. Second possibility is Trigeminal neuralgia - neural pain of face with possible loss of sensation on the affected part of face but eye is seldom involved. It is usually associated with history of traumatic extraction of ipsilateral tooth. Third possibility can be sinusitis due to possible oro-antral fistula after extraction leading to sinus infection. This may lead to dull pain over the cheek area but inability to close eye and tongue involvement may not be explainable with this condition. You may consult an oral surgeon/physician/ neurologist to rule out above stated possibilities who may be able to help you in this regard. Take care.

If you have time, look up vitamin deficiencies in regard to your sore tongue and other symptoms.  I had the same tongue issues and got off of gluten containing foods (wheat, barley, rye and oats) and it got better.  Gluten could also be causing (though not definitely) your thyroiditis.  Look up celiac disease diet and maybe check with your doctor and give it a try.  If you have a gluten problem, your body cannot absorb many vitamins and nutrients.   It's a common problem.  Good luck.  If you try the diet, you'll need a multivitamin and maybe a b-complex to make up for what's missing in the diet.
The vitamins need to say gluten-free on the label.  NatureMade is definitely gluten free.

Hope this helps.
