Left side of body weakness

I'm a 27 year old female that is experiencing weakness in my left side.  I went to the Walk in clinic the other day because my pinky finger on my left hand seem to be at an odd angle.  This finger and my ring finger seem to be not working correctly.  The Dr said I needed to see a neurologist to rule out MS or Brain tumor.  As Canada is not known for their speedy referals I was wondering if you could ease my mind a little and give other less scary possibilties.  I'm terrified.  I may have to go through months and months of waiting I need some hope. I do have other symptoms, Muscle weakness on left side and Migraine headaches on my right side.  I'm under weight.  Please e-mail me with some other possibilities it will make the months ahead a little more bearable.

Thank you for your time.

Did your symtoms start right after you had your Baby?  Mine did.  I started getting Migraines left side weakness.  I could hardly walk for a couple weeks after I had Aedan.  My right leg kept giving out.  I'm so scared and frustrated.  I just want to know what is going wrong with this body of mine.  Every day it seems to be something new.  Its really hard to take care of my babies (Halle 33 months, Aedan 20 months).  By the way what is Nuropathy?  Anyway, thanks for commenting back its always nice to hear from someone who knows what your going through.  I don't feel as alone.

My left side is weaker than my right.  I have some neck pain and sometimes pain inbetween my shoulder blades.  It is very frustrating.  I'm curious about what the Nurologists have said to you?

If it's just the pinky and ring finger that are weak, then it's possible that it's just a pinched nerve in your neck or further on down the arm. That of course wouldn't explain the migraines, but then there is the possibility of a complex migraine which can cause neurological symptoms in the absence of a serious brain disease. MS and brain tumor are certainly possibilities that cannot be ruled out without further imaging studies and examinations, but yes there are other diagnoses that this could represent. If it's faster for you to get an MRI or CT before seeing a neurologist, consider that possibility also. Best of luck.
