Leg and Back pain after Myelogram

I had a cervical myelogram done yesterday and during the procedure I felt pain in my left buttock and left leg. I told my Dr. and he said that it was normal and that he just struck a nerve. I've never had this done before so I assumed it was normal. However today (day after procedure) I am having severe lower back pain near the injection and my left buttock and leg are killing me. It hurts very badly to walk. The only thing that gives me any relief is lying down. Is this normal? Will this go away on it's own? Could it be spinal fluid leaking, or nerve damage? The reason for the test in the first place was my neck and upper shoulder pain, now I have even more pain but in my lower back! Any advice would be great! Thank you!

I had a lumbar Myelogram done this past Friday. It was the worst pain I have ever felt. It shot down the back of my left leg and into my right buttocks. Ever since then, I have felt like I was kicked in the back by a horse!! It hurts to straighten up. It hurts to sit up. The only thing that eases the pain is bedrest. Anyone else have this happen to them??

Do you really mean naltrexone, or perhaps Naprosyn?

I had this procedure in April 2013. I am in more pain now than I was prior to the test. My low back, legs, and buttocks are constantly numb and in excruciating pain. I would NOT recommend this test to anyone!

I can not say the Myleogram was painful, just uncomfortable with the sticks. As a matter of fact, it was easier than what I had thought. However since, my lower back pain has increased a lot!  I am in constant severe pain even with very strong pain medicine.  I see the neurosurgeon in 3 days, and if he wants to do surgery, I will tell him I am ready assp.

I just had a second myelogram yesterday. I cried all day when I found out I had to have another one because of my last experience  Little did I know how much the morphine helped me the first time. They fed it to me the entire procedure. Had it done at a different hospital this time and they didn't offer or allow any pain meds which in my opinion is SADISTIC!!!! It was the most excruciating pain I have ever experienced. I couldn't help myself but to scream. I tried so hard not to but it was impossible. I have a high tolerance for pain and can deal with just about anything but that was absolutely horrible. If you have to have one, find somewhere that will feed you morphine via an IV during the entire procedure. I promise you will thank me for that advice.

Today I'm just nauseated, in pain where the contrast irritated my lower back and left hip, in my normal pain in my neck and tired. Headed to the doc for my results and an EMG. Hoping they figure something out.

I had a myelogram yesturday. My surgeon says I need to have several cervical discs removed, I also have DDD,& lumbar areas have almost fused by themselves.I have had back pain since 1999. I worked in a printing plant for over 20 yrs.A mans job, I'm female. When they started to tilt the table, I experienced the worst pain in both legs I have ever had, then when the table tilted down towards my head the pain was again the worst I have ever felt in the cervical, shoulders & head areas. I would compare it to child birth. I had had morphine prior to going in the testing room, but, after the doctor saw the xray he ordered more before the test began.Even with 3 different, doses, I still expeienced traumatic pain. I almost passed out,and my tolerance for pain is very, very high. After the tilting was over & they rolled me over on my back the pain susided quickly. Today , I am still a little woozie from the drugs, but no other pain but my normal crevical areas.  What could have caused this traumatic pain? I see my surgeon next week, but I need to know what cuased this,I have had MRI'S and all the other tests needed to help the doctors with my greatest problem area my cervical discs 3/4 of them need to be removed & a cage built up in that area.  Thank You for your wisdom Doctor, Leslie Meadows

I just had a Myelogram done this morning, and my lower back and hips are killing me, I can hardly walk without pain. I had mine done because I had a fusion done in 2008 and still having pain, I guess I have to live the rest of my life with back pain.

I had a cervical myelogram performed 09/08, the injection site was in the lumbar area.   I have not been able to get out of bed since.   Immediately after the injection my skin turned bright red and itched, obviously a reaction to the contrast they injected.  The headaches started within 24 hours and have not let up as well as an increase in pain in my cervical area, thoracic area, and lumbar area.  I will be having a blood patch tomorrow for the headaches, as far as the rest of the body aches..... we will see.  I have had six spine surgeries in my past and this is some of the worst pain I can remember EVER having.....  to be continued.

I had a lumbar myelogram yesterday, July 23rd.  The procedure was
not difficult, I know a never root was touched during the procedure, the radiologist had to go back and give me more lidocaine.  After it was over and the local began wearing off, I developed sharp, intense pain in my left hip and leg.  It's just been one day but I now have more pain than
before, and it was intense prior to the test.  I suspect it is either due to possible irritation to a nerve root or somehow the contrast medium affected the herniation, causing more pressure on the sciatic nerve.  Don't know but this pain does not respond to 5mg of Vicodin.  Would like to think it will improve.  Have very little pain from the actual site of the myelogram stick.
My problem is L5/S1

I am having a myelogrm on Friday (4/16/10) and am totally freaked out!  I have asked to for medication.  I am post-op four months from artifical disk replacement C5-C6 and am having my symptoms come back.  The spinal tap scares the heck out of me.  I know that I may hurt for a while after, but does it go away after a few days? Was it worth it?  Can they really see if anything is impinged (spelling?).  My arm pain is not always constant but it is daily.  Any suggestions would be great.

I am 37yr old male and had my myelogram in 2005 it is 4 years later and still have excruciating pain at the L4-5 injection site.  It is so bad that even the touch of my shirt causes pain.  If I press on the site I will lose control of my bowels from the pain.  No one can tell me what is going on but I know that this was the cause since I never had pain in my lower back before.  I am unable to sit more than 30 minutes or sleep in certain positions because of the pain.  I would stay on the Dr and make sure you get it checked so you do not have to go through this mess.

I had a cervical myelogram Jan. 09 and am still having lower back/buttock/leg pain. It's getting worse instead of better. I had a lumbar mri 4/7 and they say it's normal other than several tarlov cysts that they don't believe is the problem. I'm glad that there's nothing wrong...ha ha This is unbelievable. I never had low back pain before. Are you doing any better?

I had a Myelogram two weeks ago and I felt the same thing.  If you were leaking spinal fluid you would know it.  I did that and you get a headache like you've never had before.  I had to go back twice and get blood patches.  With a spinal headache, the only thing that gives you relief is laying flat.  That's how you can tell it's a spinal headache.
