MRI Scan

Hi, last year I had an MRI scan. I was having it as the Dr was looking to see if I had an AVM on the brain, I get a lot of headaches and have an AVM on my right forearm. When I went to see the Dr he told me my results, he said there is a malformation there but it isnt an AVM. He then pointed to the temporal lobes and said they are low. I should of asked him what that meant, but I never ask questions when Im there, I just say to myself I should of asked this and I should of asked that. I looked on the internet and could only find things about epilepsy. Could you please tell me what it could possibly be.

Thanks.

I have found out the reason for my headaches. I went to a neurologist in October, who had not looked at my scan but thought my headaches were migraine headaches. He looked at my scan at a later date and sent it to another neurologist. I went to the other neurologist in January who showed me the scan and told me I have a chiari malformation. I have now been put on preventive migraines tablets, to see if the headaches are caused by migraines or the malformation. If the tablets work, I will not have to go for the operation. I am keeping my fingers crossed that they work. Thanks for your help.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi there. This headache could be due to raised intracranial pressure and lowering of temporal lobes on MRI due to brain herniation, which is a consequence of very high intracranial pressure.  Herniation could result from many factors causing mass effect and increase intracranial pressure including traumatic brain injury, stroke and brain tumor. You need to consult a neurologist immediately with this concern, as this can be fatal. Hope this helps. Take care.
