Hello dear and welcome to the medhelp forum. I understand your concerns and empathize with you. The l4-l5 level disc protrusion causing compression of thecal sac. Thecal sac is a csf filled sac in the lumbar spine since there is no spinal cord and nerve roots hang like a horse’s tail containing lumbar, sacral and cocygeal nerve roots. This indentation affects these motor and sensory nerve and hence the symptoms. There is also foraminal narrowing on both the sides causing the thigh symptoms. You need to be offered conservative approach of NSAIDS, physical therapy, epidural injection of steroids to reduce the inflammation. decompressive disc surgery is the final option if the conservative approach fails to give the desired results. Wish your husband all the best.
Thanks a lot for your suggestion
So we can avoid surgery but I would like to even know will he cured completely after surgery or will there be any side effect after surgery. As far as the pain is concerned he was just lying down after returning form office as he was unable to sit.
This pain and burning sensation is there with him for more than four years . He even has numbness in his thighs which is even older than 12 yrs.
Even can u recommend to which doctor should he be referred if it is curable without surgery.
