Multiple prolapses and continuing pain

I am at my wit's end and need some suggestions. In 2007 I had 4 prolapse disk surgeries. Started with the neck (Feb) and then did 3 for the same disk in the lumbar (May, July, Oct). In July this year I reinjured it and have not been able to recover from the pain. I had been taking 800mg ibuprofen 3x/day, seeing an oseopathic therapist, an acupuncturist, and trying homeopathic medicine. Last week my family physician decided to put me on a course of steroids to see if that would help with the pain. The pain has significantly lessened, but I have nerve symptoms again down my left leg: numbness, burning and tingling. I wake up with hip pain from laying down, and if I sit too long I have pain upon standing, but not while I am actually sitting. My osteopathic therapist has determined that my pain in radiating from the coccyx, not the lumbar. But I was told a person can not have a prolapse in the coccyx, nor are there major nerves in that area. So why the pain in that area and why am I going through nerve symptoms again?

Today my family physician called my neurosurgeon to get an appointment for evaluation and I was told the soonest "emergency" appointment is 6 weeks away. Any good advice? I just don't know where to turn at this point!

Thanks!

Hi,

How are you?
Most of your symptoms like burning and tingling down the leg are because you have reinjured yourself in the lumbar region.
The pain in the hip region which gets worse on standing can be due to compression of injury of the pudendal nerve.
Pudendal nerve injury can also cause pain in the perineal region. The exact cause can however be determined after a thorough clinical exam. You can discuss this possibility with your neurosurgeon.
