Muscle problems

I have a herniated disc in my neck and I think I would recover from this if I could get my muscles to cooperate. Every time I wake up after sleeping for a few hours whenever I move a body part my muscles go into extreme contractions. If I move my arm it causes a chain reaction into my neck muscles. So when I first wake up my neck feels good as long as I don't move anything. I don't know how to stop this. I have taken muscle relaxers and it doesn't stop it. As soon as my neck muscles contract the numbness in my head and the pressure in the base of my head starts up. Does anyone have any ideas for me try.

Yup, sure sounds like the Cervical spine. Get a lower pillow &
even lay flat 10 min. if poss. before pillow. Higher the pillow
the more curved neck/the closer disks get/the more swell at
herniation. Your arm is operated from abt C4-C5 aprox. Move
fingers & it's up to spine/neck. Traction can help keep disks
separated/straighter neck/keep head more aligned. A gd coldpak
to have on hand is by KAZ & is clay filled that lasts 3xlonger
& more comfortable than many paks. A rectangle sz helps neck &
shoulder for ache/pain. Computer use curves neck wrong way &
can also cause a herniation. I use hm-traction off/on. Maybe
ask Dr for physical therapy trial to decide. Gd-luck.

Maybe the physical therapy, it has helped me alot, especially with the facial tingling.  My recent cervical MRI states that I have no curvature to my cervical region, neuro said this could be caused by muscle spasms, being that I have a herniated disk at C-3,C-4.  I also just got more trigger point injections on each side, 10 each side, my lower teeth and ear was killing me, and after the first series of injections, the teeth and ear pain went away.  Good luck!!!!
