I have been diagnosed with Spondylolisthesis. X-rays were taken, MRI was done, EMG was done (I do have nerve damage). I have been to physical therapy and I am on Neurontin, but nothing seems to help. Finally, my doctor tells me that it is time for surgery, but he says that a mylogram is necessary before hand. When asked why I would need it, he told me that it is routine and that it will show more than an MRI. I have read about mylograms and I am really scared. I really don't feel that I have to go through this given all the other tests that were already performed. Can I insist on having the surgery done without the mylogram? Are there any doctors that are so experienced, that they don't need that extra test? What are my options?
