NEED ADVICE PLEASE!!

I had a ganglion cyst removed from my left wrist.  The surgery went fine, until about two weeks after. The side of my hand, my pinky finger and half my ring finger started to go numb.  Burning Sensation followed the numbness.  I went back to see the Dr. that did the surgery.  He told me that there was no way that this could be from the surgery.  "Unless I was wired differently then everyone else." He wrote me a prescription for a steriod pack and told me to call if it didnt help.  I took the 6 days of steriods with no change.  I went back again and he once again assured me that couldnt possibly be from the surgery and that I had to have hit my elbow.  I told him that I didn't hit my elbow.  He prescribed a cream for me to rub on it that has lidocaine in it and told me to call in a few days if it didnt work.  I called back in about 4 days, the nurse finally calls me back the next day and tells me that the Dr. wants me to use it for 2 weeks.  The cream helped the first couple days somewhat.  The burning sensation is so bad, it feels like my skin was going to burn off.  I have to keep my pinky from touching anything and it kinda curls a little now.  I finally go back to see him and he wants to do a nerve study.  I am referred to a neurologist (who really really likes the orthopedic surgeon)  He tells me that I have ulnar nerve entrapment and that its has to be from my elbow.  I just dont know what to think.  I would hope that if I did something to my elbow that would cause this much pain, I would remember it.  The neurologist did a ultrasound on my elbow and said he doesnt see any swelling or anything, so he doesnt know.  I am completely miserable and apparently look as if I am staring to develop "a claw" per the neurologist.  WHAT DO I DO FROM HERE???????

The numbness/burning are in my pinky finger and half my ring finger as well as the top, bottom and side of my hand.  My thumb and other fingers are completely fine.  I just dont understand what could be going on.  My elbow doesnt hurt at all either.  Shew...
Thanks for the comment!

Hi,

How are you?
There is a possibility that your symptoms are due to radial nerve injury. Radial nerve injury can occur during surgery for a ganglion cyst.
Radial nerve injury usually causes numbness in the thumb and the adjacent two fingers and leads to loss of extension of fingers, wrist and thumb.
Please seek a second opinion with a neurologist about this. Take care!
