Neck pain on right side

Hi all

Basically 3 months ago I woke up with severe neck pain couldn't move it at all and would have muscle spasms and severe pain. It also looked slightly swollen

After 3 days the severe pain subsided however there is still pain where I turn my head to the right, the pain feels like it goes from the top of my neck near the base of my skull and runs dowm to my neck to my upper back

I've been to my gp who advised I need physio for a facet joint and am waiting for an appointment

Does anyone know what I can do to help and is this normal to have pain like this for 3 months
