Need help with Headaches...

I am a 35 yr old male have had headaches and facial numbness as well as a ticking sensation since November 2009. I have seen GP physician and Nueroliogist, Have had 2 MRI's with contrast both showing 6 tiny areas of bright signal. Headaches are consistant also have had 2 Spinal Taps since March, 2010 and both have come back with negative results for oligoclonal band. The last one which was done last week thursday has come back with high levels of protien in the CFS.  Can anyone help me with figuring anything out.

Did you get my private message about the high protein in the CFS?  Have you gotten a carotid ultrasound?  Have they ruled out TMJ disorder?  Where are the bright signal located in your head?  Have you asked your neurologist what the possible implications of those results are?

I did get your private message, I have not had a caotid ultrasound. He has not said anything about TMJ. He has only told me that there are 6 spots of bright signal and that the die contrast used in the MRI did not go to the spots. He has said that it is not MS but also offered to me the option of getting a second opion.

So he told you his opinion of what he thought it was not.  Did he give you any info on what he felt the explanation was for your MRI results and your symptoms?  Did you get a copy of the MRI report and the disc of the pics to take to a second opinon doctor?  If you have a copy of the report, it should tell you what part(s) of the brain the bright signals are located.
Do you feel you could not possibly have spinal meningitis, even with the elevated protein in your spinal tap?

No he said he is very sorry that at this time he cannot give me a diagnosis. I see him again on Wed next week, I have never seent a copy of either report I am just going by what he says. He told me the elevated protien was not that elevated. SO for the spinal menigitis I am not sure I don't remeber a fever and these symptoms have been going on for so long it is very frustrating.

Hi, Thank you for your question. This may be Trigeminal neuralgia as you have typical one sided facial pain extending to temple (head) and eye( ophthalmic branch of trigeminal nerve may be involved) and sore gums of the teeth of same side (maxillary branch of 5th nerve). Trigeminal neuralgia may have a triggering factor like recent history of tooth extraction, touch, cold breeze or hot sensation etc. which you need to evaluate and avoid. Drug of choice for trigeminal neuralgia is carbamazepine but as the dose may vary according to severity therefore I would advice an oral medicine specialist consultation or at least a physician to confirm this diagnosis and get you treated accordingly. I don't think it is this the numbness does not only come and go it is a constant tingling and i just gets worse through the day. The Headaches never go they also just get worse throughout the day as well. It also today feels like my whole body is warm and tingly and muscles are tight also pain in left leg now as well not shooting or accute just dull and constant.

I've had tingling sensations in my head before and I had a neurologist who explained to me that they were muscle spasms.  You might find this thread of interest:
