Nerve pain in neck and leg weakness

I had posted earlier but it has not shown up on the forum.  My Mom, 81 yr. old had severe neck pain, went to ER, they said she had arthritis, went to her dr. the next week and he said there was nerve involvement.  He gave her a cortisone shot in her neck.  Pain has gotten better but about 5 days later she has severe weakness in her legs.  Cannot walk without walker.  Could the two be related?  It is a holiday and her dr. is on vacation for 6 days.  Should she see someone else in the practice before he returns.  She has had this weakness for 2-1/2 days now and we are both getting concerned.

It possibly could be shingles.  Ive had singles and have experienced leg weakness. SHingles is common in the elderly. unfortunately , shingles is a virus and not easily treated- although there is medication that is somewhat effective in shortening the episode.. Good luck. Singles is very hard and is often accompanied by depression and overall weakness. Low immmunity.
