Neurological Symptoms Worsening 6 Months After Head Injury

I am a 20 year old female.  Six months ago, I was hit on the driver's side of my car by an SUV running a red light at over 70 miles an hour.  I was lucky to have just a couple of cuts and bruises, despite shattering the window with my head.  I had a CT in the emergency room, but there was nothing on it.  Over the past couple of months, my vision and hearing on the left side have diminished.  I've started having trouble regulating my body temperature (am either freezing or sweating profusely), I urinate frequently and I am constantly thirsty.  I have also gained about 20 pounds since the accident, despite actively trying to lose weight.  In the past three weeks, I've noticed more behavioral issues.  My mild OCD has worsened, I am more emotional and I'm less patient than I was previously.  It's difficult for me (a straight A university student) to read and study.  I've also noticed unexplained bruising near and on both of my ears, as well as on my back and on my right leg.  My right arm has experienced numbness and discomfort.

I had a great deal of trouble locating a neurologist who would take my insurance, but I finally found one.  However, my appointment isn't until the first week of August.  Does anyone have any experience with symptoms developing months after an accident?  Does anyone know what my symptoms could point to?  Is it something related to the accident, or is this a whole other issue?

I appreciate any input! Thank you!

Hi...yes, u can develope a syrinx due to trauma......also u could have a dormant condition that is triggered after a MVA....u should get an MRI again....of ur brain and cervical spine.

Chiari malformation has a way of showing up after an accident as well as syringomyelia (syrinx)....and both can cause the symptoms u mention and can take up to 6 months to be noticed.

There is a chiari forum here on MedHelp if u would like more info.
