Neuropathic Pain Treatment

Hello, I was looking for some treatment options for General Neuropathic Pain as the only diagnosis my dr can provide me after negative EMGs both upper and lower extremeties and complete work up including MRIs, bone scans, x-rays, and blood tests.

My pain is debilitating sciatica like in both legs and ulnar nerve pain in both arms from shoulder down to the pinky fingers which feels like tightness in so many muscle groups.  Pain for 2 years without answer or any treatment to help.   My doc seems to leave me with only the trial and error path.  I have exhausted physical therapy, Lyrica, Cymbalta, Neurontin, Tens unit, ice, heat, massage.  Narcotics help in desparate times but not a long term solution.  Can't seem to find any benefit to this debilitating condition which is an unforunate generic diagnosis to say the least.  Appreciate any recommendations you can make.

thanks.

Hey sorry to see this. I read you had an embolisation done. Have you looked into the possibility of coils compressing the nerves? Ive seen this happen to others before and it is awful. I'm sorry you're going through this. I hope it has improved. Did you ever find a solution?

Thank you for your question. Although without being able to examine you I can not offer you the specific advice on diagnosis and treatment that you need, but I would try to provide you some relevant information about your health concern.

Unfortunately, rehabilitation is the only effective way to help you to regain function to the possible extent and prevent from permanent losses. If rehabilitation program is appropriately instituted, most of the patients can regain maximum functions with appropriate therapy, training and support services. For coordinated rehabilitation program a team of a neurologist, a physiotherapist, an occupational therapist and a nutritionist work together to help you in your recovery. Therefore, I would suggest following the suggestion made by them and recovery will be although slow but most of the functions may be restored. In addition, it is essential to know that risk of stroke recurrence may be reduced such as by quitting smoking and controlling blood pressure. Hope this helps.
