Numbness, itchy, cold, burning leg

For 4 months, I have suffered from a numb, itchy, and cold/burning right upper leg. It is also sensitive to the touch and I sometimes get stabbing pains in the same area. In June it started as a quarter size area...now it has increased to my whole front leg. I do have an appt. for an MRI next week, but am very curious about this until I get a final diagnosis. The doctor I chose to go to did not offer much info...he thinks I may have a damaged nerve in my back. He also told me during my exam that I have 'brisk reflexes' and had asked me if I had always had 'brisk reflexes'. He seemed very concerned about this condition. I also have fatigue and always a feeling of muscle aches and sometimes confusion. Please...anyone that has suffered from this condition, please respond....I am very concerned about this and would appreciate any info from anyone!

If it makes you feel any better, I'm not overweight and I've had the same problem for years in my top left thigh. I'm even in the PT/rehab business, and I haven't gotten any answers. My theory is that it has something to do with landing on my tailbone when I was 14 (I'm now 32 and it started when I was in my early 20's). I have slight numbness just under the skin, and in the morning it burns/itches like crazy for the first hour or so after I get up. Right now, it actually hurts to the touch, but the numbness is still present. Even the chiros and PT I work with have no idea, just theories. Oh well, it is what it is.

I have the same problem. I am overweight and was told by a back surgeon that the nerves for that part of the leg comes through the front of the pelvis. When you are overweight, it presses on the nerves and causes the problem.

JUST READ WHAT YOU HAD WRITTEN A WHILE BACK INQUIRING IF ANYONE HAD THE SENSATION OF BLOOD VESSELS POPPING, ETC.  YOU SAID THAT NO ONE HAD MENTIONED THAT PARTICULAR SYMPTOM ALONG WITH THE OTHERS (NUMBNESS, PAIN, ITCHINESS)  WELL, I HAVE ALL OF THE ABOVE, BUT ESPECIALLY NOTICEABLE, WAS THE BLOOD VEESSELS SEEMING TO BE POPPING UDER MY SKIN WHICH WOULD HAPPEN WHEN I WOULD BE GETTING ONTO MY BED.  THIS WAS MORE PRONOUNCED WHEN THE NUMBNESS FIRST BEGAN.  I ALSO, UNFORTUNATELY, HAD MY APPENDIX BURST AT THE SAME TIME I HAD STARTED FEELING THE THIGH NUMBNESS AND PAIN, ETC. AND IT JUST COMPLICATED A VERY PAINFUL EXPERIENCE WITH THE COMPLICATION OF PERITONITIS.  I STILL HAVE TO SEE MY INTERNIST.  THE SURGEON DID NOT SEE A RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE THIGH AND THE APPENDICITIS OR PERITONITIS.

I am having a hard time processing this info so many people with the same problem.I simply searched for," numbness, sometimes cold sometimes hot burning sensation in upper right thigh). It usually happens while sleeping !! Can be very painful at times, It has started waking me at night. I am 52 yr old man 20 year Army Infantry Veteran now retired from Army, I do have back issues however these freezing/burning spots started about 2 - 3 yrs ago. How can something so common remain un-diagnosed for so long.We have so many brilliant minds in the medical community I dont understand !!

Interesting...I have been on a very similar detox diet and seeing a chiorpractor for about 5 weeks. For the past three days I have been experiencing EXCRUCIATING sensations on the right side of my chest (had R breast removed due to cancer 28 years ago at 35). This area has always been numb since the surgery. The sensations feel like EXTREAM itching, burning, crawling and occasional powerful electric shock sensation. It is much worse in the evening and during the night. Last night was a good nigh, the pain only woke me up three times. I was diagnosed with gluten intolerance last year after losing 14 lbs. I weighed aprox. 115 at the time. I am still having digestive problems. Hoping the detox and extensive blood and saliva tests will shed some light on the problem. Suspect I have a general immune problem affecting more than one system including thyroid. The sensations I am experiencing are unbearable. I am praying it will be over fast!!
