Prednisone, ITP and twitching

I am a 56 year old female diagnosed in the beginning of May with ITP (Idiopathic thrombocytopenia purpura).  I was put on 60 mg. of prednisone and have tapered to the present dose of 5 mg. Since prednisone was not effective in maintaining my platelet count, I was given a course of Rituxan which has successfully maintained my counts around 150,000.  In July, while I was taking about 40 mg. of prednisone, I began to experience muscle twitching in my legs.  The twitching usually occurred most noticeably while I am relaxing in bed or a chair.  More recently I have experienced it in my arms while I sit at my desk at work.   Is this twitching a result of the prednisone?  I do not think it is a side effect of the Rituxan, because it started before I was given the chemotherapy.  I also have been diagnosed with hypothyroidism and take 30 mg. Armour Thyroid.  Shouldn't the twitching begin to subside at the low dose of 5mg.of Prednisone?

None of my doctors can account for this symptom.  Should I see a neurologist?

You can read about my experience on the internet. Just type in "tic tac toe" and then ITP. A lady name Joan created the ITP society and it is a network of thousands of people who have this special and unknown causing affliction.

I was on Prednisone in July (40mg) and it made my knees numb for a while and I was back on 20mg for six days and it has made me twitch all over. From my arms to my legs to my back. It moves around. I had a normal EMG Nerve study in October. MRI I have four deg. disc in my cervical and one in my lumbar. At first the prednisone made my legs hurt... it is better now but the twitching is terrible and it is only when I am still. Like you when I am at my desk, lying down etc. Everyone twitches every now and then but not like this and it moves around.
Does your twitching move around?
