I'm 23, 250lb, 5'7". Recently (December), my partner noticed that my eyes were jittering back and forth noticibly. I went to my optometrist (May) who referred me to a neurologist. He had seen two other cases of this "acquired pendular horizontal nystagmus", one caused by a brain tumor and a lot of chemotherapy and the other was a case of MS. I have frequent headaches (daily) that feel like pressure behind my right eye and goes up to my head, numbness in my right thumb for the past few days, "pins and needles" in my arms, my legs feel weak and they buckle out from underneath me during regular walking, I'm nauseated quite frequently, I get severely dizzy, and I have problems speaking (stuttering, slurring a little bit, and combining words together).
Firstly, what should I expect from a visit to the neurologist? Secondly, what could these symptoms point to other than MS or a brain tumor? And lastly, what treatments can I seek out to help control these symptoms?
Thanks,
Brenna
