Osteoma calvaria

I have what I have been told is an osteoma calvaria tumor in the left side of my head that pushes into my brain. I have migraines, constant headaches, lightheaded, pass out, have fallen and hit my head on concrete many times, ringing in my ears, impaired short term memory, some stuttering. I was told at first that this could be taken out now the military says no. This has not been biopsied or anything else. I also have other tumors in my body. Can you explain more about this to me? Thank you.

Hi there.

It is important that if you have other tumors in the body, that these other tumors be biopsied.  The exact etiology of these tumors can be ascertained with the biopsy, and only then can specific treatment be instituted.  For the main tumor in contention, which is the one inside the brain, it will be very hard to assess or perform an operation in this area and I understand the hesitance of some doctors.  However, this should be monitored regularly to find any signs of enlarging or compression of some structures.  I suggest that you discuss with the doctors regarding a possible biopsy of the other tumors.

I had a calvarial osteoma on my left side as well, pushing into my dura, causing me the same symtoms (excrutiating headaches, dizziness, vertigo, etc). mine was removed 8 months ago.
