Pain on right side of head

I am a 25 year old female.  Every few weeks I go through a day where I get sharp pains on the right side of my head.  They are above my ear and make me stop what I am doing while they last.  They only last a few seconds.  I do have a Hx of epilepsy.  I was Dx with Juvenile myoclonic epilepsy when I was 16.  I would just like to get an idea what these are, or where they are coming from.  Any word could help.

When I was pregnant with my daughter 3 years ago, I had my first migraine. My mother has had them for years.  I also had an episode when I drove to the store, and couldn't remember what it was I needed, I could look at a magazine and know in my head that that is Jennifer Aniston, but I couldn't say the name, then my pinky went numb and this continued until my whole hand was numb.  Now when I get a migraine, I can know what something is in my head, but I can't say it.  It's almost like my head disconnects from my mouth.  These stabbing headaches make my whold body stop.  Not that I can't move, but the pain is so great I have to stop.  Thank you so much for your time, and help!

Hi,

Are there other signs or symptoms present? Primary stabbing headaches are short, stabbing, extremely intense headaches that lasts between five and 30 seconds anywhere on the head. The pain can also seem to occur in or behind the ear. People who experience Ice pick headaches are usually those who have migraine disease, or another head pain disorder. This is difficult to treat because the pain is so brief and it's gone before the patient can even take medication. If this persists it would be best to see your doctor for proper evaluation and management.

Take care and keep us posted.
