Plaque

I am new to this site so bare with me, I think I am posting a question to one of the Dr. Here is my question, can a person have plaque on the brain without it meaning they have ms. I am going to be seeing a neurologist this Thursday but got the results back from my regular doctor and he really scared me. I asked him point blank if this meant I definitely had ms, and he said he could not make that call,so I have not been sleeping since he told me this yesterday!! Please help me,Lynette

Thank you so much for getting back to me, my appointment is tomorrow with my neurologist and I am taking my sister as my support system, sometimes I wish I'd never had the mri, and maybe these symptoms would eventually go away, oh who am I kidding right?!!! It's just that I am so scared as I'm sure many people are out there who are also. Is it true there are more then one test they have to do to diagnose me!!!??? Or can he pretty much tell me I have it from the plaque on my brain?? Thank's so much again for writing me!! Lynette

I have had 4 MRI's in past 3 years and 3 showed changes in white matter,  but never lighting up.
My neuro told me that w/ MS, plaques may only be active for a few days, so it is no surprise that they don't light up.
I do not get headaches.  My symptoms are more muscle aches and fatigue.  I have yet to be officialy diagnosed.  All my E. potentials were normal, as was my spinal tap.

Just want you to know, there are many of us out here like this.  Waiting a long time for diagnosis.

There are only 5 things that can cause lesions in white brain matter by my I.D., Dr.Rienhart, at Christiana Hospital in Newark,DE.
I was told they are: MS, Lupus, RA, Lymes Disease and Sjrodgren's.  But, I have heard migraines can cause them too.

I would keep getting checked.  The sooner you get diagnosed, the sooner you can be helped.

First take a deep breath, and yes I have been a migraine sufferer for over twenty years and they can really screw you up, my daughter was experencing dizziness and memory problems and they sent her in for an mri, they found lesions on the brain and then did further nerve testing and came to the conclusion that she had these lesions from migraines so believe me mirgraines can do alot. She is currently on a preventative called topamax and it does seem to help some but she still get's migraine. I hope I have helped you a little,Lyn
