Post MVA issues

Hi, I am posting this query for a friend. He is 56 and suffers from chronic neck pain, which he says is 6/10 scale constantly and unrelieved by medication or any other therapy he has tried. He had an auto accident in 2002 and suffered head trauma; loss of consciousness and was sedated for 3 weeks. He then was in therapy for 3 months. He still has visual problems (sees double with left eye), feelings of dizziness and fogginess, and some paralysis of his right facial muscles. He had a few episodes of extreme dizziness years before the accident, but now he has it almost constantly. As I mentioned, he has tried several medications, chiropractic therapy, etc. and has had no relief from the neck pain or dizziness. He is considering neck surgery and recently heard of Enbrel spinal injections or possible Enbrel treatment. He is seeking an answer and will consider travel or participating in a research study. Any ideas or thoughts are much appreciated. Thank you, Lisa

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi!
Before deicing any treatment, a confirmed diagnosis is required to manage the case. Did your friend have MRI/CT scans of head and neck? If yes, then what was the diagnosis? Your friend could be having herniated disc in neck, pinched nerves in the neck, benign intracranial hypertension, TMJ, or trigeminal neuralgia. Please ask your friend to consult his doctor regarding this. The pain relief injections are for discogenic pain and may ormay not be effective. Take care!

The medical advice given should not be considered a substitute for medical care provided by a doctor who can examine you. The advice may not be completely correct for you as the doctor cannot examine you and does not know your complete medical history. Hence this reply to your post should only be considered as a guiding line and you must consult your doctor at the earliest for your medical problem.
