Post polio syndrome involves the progression of weakness which may occur after ten years of stability from the initial polio infection. It typically involves the muscles affected by the polio, but also can affect muscles which were previously thought not to be affected. However, this is a diagnosis of exclusion, and other disorders should be ruled out. I would recommend seeing a neurologist, who can perform a neurologic examination and then recommend testing. Other muscle diseases, electrolyte disorders, nerve disorders, and spinal problems may have to be excluded. The testing may involve a EMG (muscle nerve test). Good luck
