Post op foot pain.

I have had three back surgeries on L5 S1.  The first surgery they installed a Charite disc and during post op recovery I have extreme left foot pain (top of foot) so five days later they went back in and cleared out some deposits in the never passage but I again continued to have foot and later hip, leg and foot pain.  Approximately five months later they went back in and removed the Charite disc and placed a plate in the front linking my disc together and brackets and rods in my back to support that side.  I am now three months in recovery and still have terrible pain on top of my left foot as though it were terribly sun burned and my ankle also hurts on the outside edge.

Do you have any advice for me as I have now had this pain for almost eight months total and it doesn’t seem like it’s going away?

Is to much TENS no good? I've had pain in my right ankle for about 3 months now. Dr. said I have tendonitis. Nothing helps to keep pain away. I use home TENS almost everyday for about 30 minutes and am wondering if this is actually hurting me more than helping me.

Thanks.

Hi,
How old are you? What treatment have you undergone to relieve your pain?
Have you tried TENS i.e. Transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation.
You can try a Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulator, which is an electronic device that produces electrical signals used to stimulate nerves through unbroken skin. The unit is usually connected to the skin using two or more electrodes. TENS works to decrease pain perception and may be used to control acute and chronic pain. It helps in regenerating nerve.
Keep me informed.
Bye.
