Hi MRI scan went well (i think) this was there conclusion:

The apperance would be most in keeping with external hydrocephalus or benign enlargement of the subarachnoid space(BESS) depending on terminology utilised.

what exactly does this mean ??they basically said that he is fine and in no immediate danger but will he get better?is there a risk of it getting worse which will result in him having to have the shunt proceedure? they were so rushed at hospital that i couldnt ask all the  questions i wanted so am thinking of going to see a private pedeatrition

any help would be greatful
thanks

Hi there. An infant with a big head or a rapid rate of growth of head circumference indicated hydrocephalus or water on brain, certain types of metabolic disorders, and mostly autistic spectrum disorder. While an infant having a big head is not a certain indicator of autism, it does appear to be an important signal of heightened risk for the disorder. The neurologist is justified in carrying out an MRI brain for the child to detect ant intracranial space occupying lesion, obstruction and dilated ventricles etc. keep a regular check of the head circumference. Hope this helps. Take care.
