Right Groin Pain

I've had pain in my right groin for some time now.  It worsens when I sit down and I get relief by stretching my right leg out of lying down. I some times experience pain in my right thigh.

I experienced burning sensation there a few weeks ago like the area was on fire. The doctor in emergency found a lump in my groin like an enlarged lymph node.  They said it could be herpes or chlymedia causing the problem. My GP ran an ultra sound which confirmed the lymph node and I underwent a CAT scan but all seems to be clear. My GP is unsure where to go next and suggested I see a surgeon. I went to a natropath and they found traces of chlymedia, herpes and candida, parasites in my appendix and deficancies in most vitamin and mineral levels. I have had clymedia in the past 6 months which was diagnosed as clear.

I have no other symptons but the pain. I have no pain during intercourse of urination. As a child I had a blockage in the stomach (polorical stenosis??) and a heart murmur. I have keliod scaring problems and have a family history of cancer (breast, lung and leukemia).

My partner and I are experiencing difficulties with fertility as well and I am wondering if the pain is something to do with this.

I am at a loss of where to turn to next. I have been perscribed no medication by my GP except pain killers which do nothing to solve the mystery.

I appreciate your time and hope you can assist in my diagnosis.

Have you been checked for kidney stones? I don't know if you are male or female, but last year I had pain in my groin area for 4 months. A gynecologist, internist, urogynecologist and neurologist all found nothing after repeated exams. It was only after I urinated what looked like pure blood that tests found a stone stuck in the base of my left ureter. I wasn't presenting stone pain in a "classic" way, which left everyone perplexed. Just a thought, and obviously I'm not a doc.

Dear M. Smith:

I am unsure what is going on.  Did you have your appendix taken out and thus the path report?  If not, where and how did they do any testing on your appendix?  If you indeed had an enlarged lymph node, the CT scan would have also picked it up, so I am unclear if your lymph node enlargement was real.  Given this information being questionable, the pain may be many things.  It might be due to compression on a nerve by the lymph node (if one exists that is swollen), it might be your herpes, it might be due to the chlamydia induced inflammation of your epidymitis.  It might also be due to something entirely different such as an untreated STD.  Whether it has an effect on your reproduction capacity I can't be sure, especially since there is no idea what is causing your pain.

Sorry.

Sincerely,

CCF Neuro MD
