Scalp pain after C1-C2 fusion

Hi

I had a C1 C2 fusion last October for Os odontoidium.  I was doing fine until a week ago.  It started with a pulling sensation on the top of my scalp with neck movement.  It has escalated to full on pain.  When I move my neck out, or down and out, I get a electric shock like feeling on top of my head.  If I keep my neck in the same postition I will continue to get the pain.  If I retract it it will go away, but leaves the area with a burning sensation. I don't have any other symptoms.  Is this related to the surgery, or could it be unrelated?

Thank you

Hi!
If the symptoms resemble those before you had the fusion, then probably the fusion was not successful. Otherwise your symptoms could be due to pinched nerves, muscle strain post surgery or due to pressure on arteries. Please call your doctor immediately and avoid putting your head in a position that is causing the pain.
Take care!

I am one month post of for c1 - c2 fusion for unsable os odontoideum.  I have pain still from site of bone graft. I have right side neck, head and shoulder pain (I had all left sided pain prior to fusion)   My neck inscision is still sensitive and sore.  My head still hurts on right side and my scalp hurts.  If you are female and have one hair caught in a clip - that awful feeling is the feeling I  have all over my head - as if all my hair is pulling on my scalp.  Will all this stop?  I can't even comb my hair as my scalp is so painful.  I am sure it must look like a Rastafarian in the back near the inscision because I can't even go near there with a comb.  Is this normal?  How long until it stops?  Also - when will I be assessed to see if fusion is happening?  To see if bone graft is taking?  i recently started using bone stimulator and I would love to know it is working.    thanks for your help.
