Sciatica-like pain, esp. after ejaculation

I had bacterial meningitis 12 years ago that left me with nerve damage (neurogenic bladder, major muscle spasms in legs, numbness/tingling in legs [esp. feet]), but I had no pain for 8-9 years after the meningitis.  Then I started having low-back pain, sciatica-like pain in the back of my L. thigh & knee, tightness in my iliotibial band and piriformis muscle.  The sciatica-like pain was often worse after I had done some bicycling, and a year or so later, the bicycling also made my lower back hurt.  Then about 2 years ago I started noticing that the sciatica-like pain was worse starting 2-3 hours after ejaculation and continuing for 2-3 days.  That problem has only gotten exponentially worse, such that now I basically have stopped ejaculating at all since I can hardly stand/walk for the next few days.  My massage therapist and physical therapist have both commented that my iliotibial band and piriformis muscle are VERY tight, and I do often have pain in the buttocks at the piriformis muscle.  Consequently, I think I may have piriformis syndrome, which may be the cause of, or at least contributing to my back, buttock, and leg pain, but I am wondering if ejaculation/orgasm could exacerbate the whole problem.  I have read many postings about piriformis syndrome but have not seen any that tie in ejaculation with the problem.  Any comments/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Has Declofinac helped you? And how can I obtain this? Need a script from a doctor or OTC

hi, I've currently same problem as yours. but recently I'm building strength and muscle in my lower back by doing some lower back exercises. The Most effective exercises are stretching of hamstring muscles (not both legs at time but only one leg stretch at a time otherwise it'll cause pain), Superman exercise(helps a lot to build a strength and muscle but be careful with this exercise please, concern neurologist before start this exercise), Squats(Slowly and with straight back), and some physiotherapy exercises, and also you need to build upper abs to strengthen the back. and also while you ejaculate don't jerk too much with your lower back. hold you back straight and relax don't band it forward. this will help you trust me. and in any case if pain occurs which is rarely happens after you  build your lower back muscle and strength in my case I take Melthix dosage(one tablet relieve the pain for 24 hours and you don't need daily dosage) which is recommended by my neurologist. Melthix is actually a nerve relaxation tablet. I hope this might help you.

The short answer is no, I have not found any effective solutions for my problems, despite discussing it with my orthopedist and 5 different neurologists.  Most of the neurologists do not even seem to want to consider the possibility of a connection between the ejaculating and the leg pain, and instead, look for other reasons for the leg pain, such as my nerve damage from meningitis.  I am currently taking clonezapam to reduce the severity of muscle spasms that I get in my legs, and it does help in that regard.  My neurologist was hoping that reducing the spasms would allow the muscles and connective tissue to relax/stretch a bit and thereby provide me some relief from the leg pain, but so far it has not really helped that part of the problem.

I was unaware of hypermobility syndrome until I looked it up after reading your comment.  I think I may have hypermobile knees, but only because it is secondary to my lack of proprioception resulting from the meningitis, so I don't think I have the actual syndrome, per se.  I do think that any hypermobility I may have in my knees is contributing to the pain, but the only connection I can make of all of this to the ejaculating issue is that when you ejaculate, I think many different muscles throughout the body flex/tense involuntarily, and when that happens it may overstretch the muscles and tendons in the hypermobile joints, thereby bringing on the pain.  This is just a thought of mine, but your raising the issue of hypermobility has kind of helped me to connect the dots, so I will definitely discuss this at my next neurologist appt.  Thanks for bringing it up, I'm just sorry that I don't have much in the way of helpful suggestions for you.
