It kind of sounds like my seizurez. I got mine when I was about 12-13 years old. Im 24 now and still have to maintain them with taking Depakote. I have tingling sensations throughout my body, my vision becomes impaired, and my eyes roll to the back of my head and then I pass out. I dont think I move that much after the auras happen. Its scary. I had my last one in 2009. Its been 4 years since my last one. :) I do still have issues w Anxiety though.
Hi,
Though , you asked a direct question, but since she is only 12 and will be going through more physiologic changes at this age , I thought you may be helped by knowing more about her case?
Generally her condition is called Posterior neocortical seizures which are usually divided into 2 categories:
1-those that begin in the occipital lobes
2-and those that begin in the parietal lobes.
In Occipital lobe seizures. All seizures can be defined by
1-subjective features (symptoms)
2-and objective features (signs).
3-They can be defined further by the initial symptom or sign (the aura) and the subsequent spread patterns,
The symptoms are called elementary visual hallucinations (meaning not formed into shapes like a tree, chair, a face of a human..ext). Most often, these visual hallucinations are
-a spot of light, steady or flashing.
- a white light with a greenish tinge (called medically: phosphene)
- mono or multicolored light
- rarly see double
Ictal amaurosis is phenomenon of visual loss at seizure onset is almost as common a symptom of occipital lobe seizure onset as elementary visual hallucinations, but it is not as widely recognized because its usually consists of a blackout (the dizzy spell with your daughter).
Some time your daughter may feel eye movement sensations, which is not or could not be seen by you or the examining physcian (a reported type of seizure). or she may say the eyes being pulled back in the head (if that happened could be some time considered psychogenic by an unexperienced physcian)
Objective initial signs are easier to spot because they could be seen.
1-Early deviation of the eyes with or without head deviation is frequently reported
2- Epileptic nystagmus (eyes are not still while looking at you ).
3- Blinking (eyelid flutter).
Few questions to you, do you have a regular follow ups with an Epileptologist? what type of neuro imaging your daughter had? any disscussion about a curative surgery?
These are some new articles if you wanted to disscuss that with your general neurologist

Yes, they sound like seizure originating from the occiptal lobe most likely could be to the hormonal changes during her peroids...I have to do something semi urgent now, but I will try to tell you more later on
