Hello,
I am a 30-yr old male with no major previous health problems. About three months ago I started having intermittent pain in my left sinuses, but had no congestion and could breath fine. I went to a GP, she said it could be a sinus infection, prescribed antibiotics, but it didn't help. The pain randomly moved to different places in my sinuses -- beside my eye, under it, all the way over to my temple.
With the sinus pain, I also developed some vision problems in one eye (also on the left side) -- I can see things in the distance okay, but if I focus on something it moves from side to side. It feels like there is pressure behind it and it moves with my heart beat.
Every once in a while I also get episodes of dizzyness or disorientation. I have difficulties concentrating on something and feel like I'm walking around in a daze. They usually last for an hour or so. It's quite troubling because I can barely focus on anything while it's happening. It causes me to feel slightly anxious because I can't control it.
Over the course of about 6 weeks, these symptoms seemed to go away for the most part. However, my left eye still twitched slightly if I focused on something, making me feel uncomfortable to drive.
I seemed to have some back and neck stiffness -- I have always had bad posture and spend a lot of time sitting at a computer -- so I began seeing a chiropractor and physio therapist. My symptoms came back much worse than they were before (almost in conjunction with seeing the chiropractor and physio). Taking sinus medication seems to help relieve some of the problems slightly, but seems to cause the pain to localize in my temple.
Can anyone recommend anything I should bring up with my doctor? I'm scheduled to have an MRI in a couple of weeks. I had a blood test the other day and it came back fine. Also, my blood pressure is normal.
Some possibilities I've considered:
- Fungal sinus infection that may have moved behind my eye (and antibiotics didn't work because it's fungal, not bacterial).
- Artery blockage/problem in my neck that supplies blood to my sinuses and eye muscles -- and perhaps that's why the stimulation from the chiro/physio caused the symptoms to return.
Other items to mention (which could be compromising my immune system):
- I was having some digestion issues, which my doctor thinks may be a heli pylori infection. I'm finally getting tested for this tomorrow.
- I have been getting itchy bumps on my ankle about once a month for a year. I was treated for hookwork, but it still comes back. Doctors haven't figured out what it is yet.
This is really starting to affect my quality of life. Any suggestions or information would be very, very appreciated. Thanks.
