Strange dizzy spells triggered from memories

First off, let me say that this is a very strange issue that I've been dealing with for a few months, leaving me baffled as to what's causing it.

A few months ago, I can remember one morning that I had slept very little, and I went to work as normal. (Remember this morning; it's key to the whole issue. We'll call it Key Day.) My job as a field technician has me going from site to site every day, usually around 8 stops. I don't remember what cities or sites I was at that day, but I remember experiencing dizzy spells. My head felt lightheaded and somewhat disoriented, my stomach felt like the kind of tingly, butterflies-in-the-stomach, as well as partially in my throat. The dizziness would pass, and I would feel hot in the face, almost like I was sweating. Then it would all pass like nothing happened.

Now begins the very strange part. If, for example, I come across a street that looks familiar, or a site that I may have been at, or a computer model I may have repaired on Key Day, a client I met, ANYTHING that I might have remembered, I begin to have a dizzy spell! (For simplification purposes, my girlfriend and I have taken to calling them "flashbacks".) Almost anything that involves me remembering (or supposing that I am) something from that day triggers a flashback.

The weirdness doesn't stop there, because then sometimes I might have a flashback about HAVING a flashback at a site or something! I seriously don't get it.

Just sitting there thinking about a flashback doesn't trigger one; it has to be something that provokes a genuine thought of where or when one happened. It's hard to explain. Like, if I drive down a street I may have had a flashback and I go, "Wait... was I here? This feels familiar..." and then one might strike. It's driving me crazy lately. Since when does a memory trigger this sort of thing?

On a funny concluding note, I've told my girlfriend that maybe we'll unravel some kind of cosmic mystery if we ever get to the bottom of it all. :P

I had these exact symptoms as a child between the ages of around 8 - 12. I have never talked about it as I have always found it so difficult to explain thatI never started to. A towel rail in the bathroom,  a street junction near our house were triggers. Myum noticed once or twice and asked if I was okay.

I have been experiencing THE EXACT same issues. Did you ever get at accurate diagnosis? I went to the hospital today...ekg, catscan, diabetes tests, blood work, and even a simple pregancy test, but nothing came up as an indicator of a potential cause. I would appreciate knowing if you every found the cause, a cure, or if you are still dealing with the symptoms.

Okay, that scares the crap out of me. Grandma has had seizures, mom had one that actually required brain surgery... could I be at risk too?

Your symptoms sound like you are having seizures. The thing you call a flashback is called deja-vu. Look up temporal lobe seizures.
