TSH abnormality

Hi...
I have been suffering a pain on my right hand especially on the nerves in the upper limb for 2 months.Last month i consulted a neurologist and he made me to undergo a blood sugar and thyroid test. The test report shows that the  blood sugar is normal and TSH level is 14.60 and is abnormal..The doctor says to take medicine for long period...
i started to take medicine for 2 weeks back..but the pain is not completely wentoff..
But the problem is that there is a chance of pregnancy..but i am not sure...if it happens will this TSH abnormality or medication effect my baby?? If yes in which way it will effect?? i am so worried about this...what should i do??
Please help me by suggesting a proper solution for this...

Hi,

How are you?
It seems that you are suffering from hypothyroidism as indicated by your elevated TSH levels. Hypothyroidism is treated by administering thyroid hormone in the form of pills. These pills do not harm the baby. Infact it is very important to maintain your thyroid levels within normal limits during the pregnancy.
Please do not worry about and make sure you take your medication as prescribed.
Take care!

Hi,

Eltroxin is thyroid replacement therapy and is not known to cause any problem during pregnancy. In fact it is important to take this medication regularly so as to keep the thyroid levels within normal range throughout pregnancy otherwise it affects the fetus.
Also make sure you let your OBGYN know that you are on replacement therapy before you start trying for a baby as it is very important for thyroid levels to be normal before conception.
