OK it has been 2 years, I went back to my surgeon. Had a mylogram. He thought I may have had a cyst on the spinal sac. I did not. Is it at all possible after the repair in 2006 ,that the symptoms could still be ,as before the surgery?

Thank you, I do just that. Most nights I sleep in a recliner and that seems to help. I guess getting the pressure off is the key.

Hello.

Can you try this ? When you go to sleep, put some pillows under your knees and neck. This position relaxes the spinal muscles, and relieves the pressure on the discs. Pardon me if the pain increases!

Thanks Doc, I'm on it. I would love to sleep just one night through. When I lay down at night is when I have the most trouble. Thanks for all of your advise.

Hello.

The period does seem to be longer than expected. This is when we consider the statement given by you MD. In this case, I would suggest you request for a test for demyelination. An Electromyogram (EMG) will tell about the presence of demyelination.

As a second thought, this could also result from a nerve impingement. This is worth a dialogue with your surgeon who performed the operation.

Hello.

The demyelination *damage to the myelin sheath) is not a permanent thing. With proper care and treatment, the myelin can be recovered. Remyelination, as it is called, can occur over a period of weeks to months.
