Trigeminal Neuralgia

Hi

I have been ill for a year started at the dentist then the maxi facial clinic then back to the doctors when the maxi clinic did xray they found problems with the sinus so then I had CT scan of sinus (by this time 3 months on im getting fedup) ct scan of sinus showed polyp and musocal disease but in my right side alol my problems are on the left. Vision problems weird feeling and also to date 2 episodes of double vision (NOT NICE ATALL) been to optitians all ok been to dentist with very sever mouth pain in roof of mouth with a lump they told me its the main nerve that comes into my mouth. I was so concerned I went to the dentist again to seek 2nd option was told its medical.  went back to doctors started with speech problems due to such mouth pain. Ambulanced in the local hospital with sever migrane and lost speech 7 hours took me 3 weeks to recover but not totally. Went o see Neurogolist who thought I was some dumb blonde and because I got my lazt arse out of bed and looked ok they thought I was going mad had an MRI all ok now they are doing a lumbar punchar but I know something is very wrong I cry every day due to severe pain dont want to live like this any more now been reffered to a professor who deals with facial pain as this is where ENT thought I should have been reffered in first instastance. I am beside myself and cannot cope the left side of my face feel numb and when I speak its almost like its not my face and I am very concious. my pain is all left sided jaw cheek around eye and horrendours around the nose its like mini pins and needles (not the electric shock like described) my doctor thinks it is TN I have sever numbness/dull aches and pins and needles on and off with the most horrendous mouth pains and gum numbness. Is there anything else it could be I suffer with my left tempal area and have inflammation over my brow bone but surely if it wa just temporal artiritis I would not be having all the mouth and face pain. I have 7 weeks to waite for my hospital aapointment and I dont know if I can make it Please help and advise

When you saw the optitician, did they order a field of vision test to see if there were any deficiencies there?

When they did the CT and the MRI- they looked at your brain (too in case of CT) right?  No brain bleeds evident or abnormal blood vessels?

Did anyone run an ESR blood test re: temporal arteritis if you were diagnosed with that?  Trigeminal neuralgia (nerve pain) can be extremely painful- have you found any websites on that, also known as tic douloureux?  Did the maxillofacial people believe you had no TMJ issues and if so, what did they base that assessment on?

Regarding your appointment in 7 weeks- I suggest you get on a cancellation waiting list if they have one in case they come up with an earlier opening.  But in addition, I suggest you call daily every day they are open and ask if a sooner appointment has opened up and that you are asking because you are in severe pain and distress.  If you can get a doctor to try to expedite your appointment, that would be good.
