MRI Results - Understanding?

I have had my 3rd MRI scan. The comments say that I have multiple T2/FLAIR hyperintense lesions within the white matter tracks bilaterally and periventricular regions, approximately 20. A single NEW lesion can be confidentialy identified adjacent to the frontal horn of the left lateral ventricle. No lesions are seen within the corpus callosum or posterior fossa. Also, that the ventricles and basal cisterns are symmetric and patent. No abnormal extra-axial fluid collection. Visualized paranasal sinuses, mastoid air cells, and orbits are unremarkable.

Can you please help with understanding this? Thanks.

You might want to do a search for Mayo Clinic MS Symptoms and see how your symptoms line up.  Again, it sounds like a very possible match to me but there may be other things that cause the same symptoms.  Do you have a follow-up appointment to go over these results with a neurologist?  I would ask him/her specifically about the possibility of MS if you are given a diagnosis other than that.

Hi,

I'm not sure what your MRI findings mean but I do know that on the MS forum there are Health Pages containing a wealth of information located in the upper right corner, next to the yellow icon. One of these pages deals with MRI findings. Below is the direct link to that page. I hope it helps!

What symptoms are you having?  Why did they do these MRIs?  Just looking at the MRI results above, I would think that you probably have MS.  However, I'm not an expert on this and your symptoms would be factored into the decision on a diagnosis.
