Waking with sensations of freezing and prickling all over my backside

For several roughly 10 years now I have been having the following experience on a relatively regular basis (several times per month).
I am always asleep when it happens.  I begin to wake as I start feeling the sensation of what I can only describe as a combination of liquid nitrogen cold + electrical shocking-tingling all over my entire backside with the most intense bit being around my mid-back and then radiating out all over.   (I'm usually on my stomach when this occurs if that has anything to do with anything). It isn't excruciating but it most definitely is not a pleasant feeling at all.  I feel my body begin to tense, my heart starts racing, my breathing becomes shallow/difficult and then it’s like a full body paralysis (with extreme feelings of spinning/vertigo) and all I can do is wait it out. It lasts maybe a few minutes before slowly dissipating and then my body relaxes and I’m able to take a deep breath.  It takes a little bit to get my breathing and heart beat regulated again and I can still feel the ‘after effects’ of the sensation on my skin. I don't know what this is and it's unnerving me very much as this sensation seems to be increasing in both intensity and duration. Has anyone had any similar experiences?  And just to be clear, no, I do not use drugs and am for the most part in relatively good health.
Any insight as to what may be happening would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
