I have 4 herniated disks in my neck with some stenosis. I have had occasional numbness on my left arm when sleeping in wrong position for years. I am 64, had a heart attack last year and also have a lot of risk factors for stroke. For the last weak I have had constant numbness and a lot of weakness on my left side. I never had the weakness before, nor the numbness around the clock, so it makes me suspect a stroke. I was off my plavix for a few days last week as I have no insurance anymore. How can I differentiate between the stenosis and a stroke.
Hi,
Thanks for writing in.
I would suggest you to get your father clinically evaluated by a physician at your earliest.
Does your father have any risk factor for stroke like high BP, obesity, high cholesterol, smoking and alcoholism?
It is important that he undergoes a complete cardiovascular exam since heart pain can manifest as toothache and shortness of breath.
Please get it done at your earliest. Take care!
