What could this be?

Hello doc,  I am a 36 year old female that started getting migraine headaches about 7 years ago.  In the beginning of 2001 I had what the ER doc diagnosed as a panic attack, I got real nauseated and felt like I was either going to vomit or pass out.  I had numerous tests ran at that time and everything was normal.  The nausea lasted 3 months.  I went for my annual gyn exam and mentioned it to him, he ran a bunch of blood work and the only thing that came back abnormal was I had a reactivated EBV infection, even tough I had no symptoms of mono, just nausea.  I had numerous gastrointestinal testing done also, normal.  After the nausea subsided I started getting the feeling of bugs crawling in my head and upper legs.  I have everyday the bug crawling feeling on my face.  I have had 2 brain MRI with and without contrast.  One in 2006, the other a year later in 2007.  Also complete spine, the brain was normal, but the c-spine showed a bulging disk at C-3.  Now on a daily basis I get razor burn feelings that just pop up at random places, like near my ankles, under arm pits, etc...  Neuro thinks that  I am suffering from a post viral syndrome.  No EMGs, or EEGs performed.  Blood work has been, CBC, EBV (now normal), Sed rate, ANA, IPEP/SPEP, FSH, TSH, antiocardiophosoid(spelling?), RA factor, and a few others that I can't remember...  She says maybe small fiber neuropathy, said she could do LP but with no lesions on brain wouldn't be able to diagnose MS anyways, so I declined.  I have no weakness, numbness, vision is fine, bladder and bowel good, heat makes me feel better.  My concern is MS because my gram was diagnosed with it when she was 60.  What else would cause these sensations with no weakness present, or atrophy?  I also had a Lyme disease titre also, it was normal.  Migraines run in my family also.

Thank you so much in advance.

Jennifer

Thank you for the advice!  I really appreciate it.  I have been keeping a journal.  The one thing I never cut out of my diet was fish.  Now that I have, symptoms have slightly improved.  Both of my stroke like episodes were within a couple weeks of having several mercury fillings removed from my teeth.  I'm starting to think there is a strong connection and I'll be doing a merc test this week.  Thanks again and wish me luck!

possibilities are endless given the symptoms and they are not all constant, food alleriges like aspartame sweetener or artifical colors or flavors, preservative allergys, airbourne allergies, infections, bites or stings of bugs, lyme disease, cardio issues, neurologic disease, migraines with a varient, seizures, panic attacks, adreanal disease and thyroid. you could  have sleep apnea. as that does alot of strange things to the brain and body. if you are taking medicines or herbal remedys,it could be a side effect of them.also excess caffine consumption can do that,as caffene is a stimulant.its not clear cut.

my advise is to keep a daily journal of EVERYTHING..what did i do,what i eat/drink,stress levels, sleep amounts and how you feel apon waking, mood, amount you drink, everyday, for 1 month. note your menstrual periods, and pms symptomology too, note the symptoms at the times they occur..when you feel the symptoms come on,or worsen, what you were doing when they were occuring, and note if there was a common thing or things that occur. it will narrow down the triggers for the bigger episodes,so you can see what,if anything sets it off.if nothing sets them off you ruled out triggers,so they CANT blame stress, allergies,or instigated illnesses, and get to the bottom of it.I know its a nuscance, heather. but so are your SYMPTOMS. thats why your here.to get advise to make them stop.this may help identify the cause of your distressing discomfort.i would then show your family doctor the journal after a month and see what they can find. point out any patterns.or the lack of patterns.
hope this helps.best of luck.

have you thought about going to a cardialogist.  i think you should.  you aare saying numbness in left arm and heart palpatations.  It wouldnt hurt to get a complete work up done by a cardilogist too.  have you gone to a neurologist yet.

I get thses episodes of sudden waves and it can go down from head to toes and feels like i am gonna pass out and right after wards twitching starts.  the neurologist did an EEG to check for seizures but it was normal too.

Hi, This is so strange.  I have similar symptoms with no diagnosis.  8 months ago I was washing dishes under no stress and felt like giant bugs were crawling out of a hole in the left side of my head.  I became severely disoriented, but everything checked out at the ER.  It felt like a stroke.  For the next two months I felt fine, but had a constant milder crawling sensation at the same spot on my head.  6 months ago, I had another bad episode and really felt like I was going to die.  Since that day, my daily symptoms have been a nightmare!  I have no quality of life left whatsoever.  The left side of my head is always in pain (coming from that one spot back left) and I have severe waves of disorientation with it along with stabbing chest pain around my heart and total numbness in my left arm.  The left side of my head does not feel connected to the right anymore as crazy as that sounds!  I also have twitches around my heart regularly, constant heart palpitations and irregular heart beats that make me feel like I'm blacking out.  I'm 35.  I feel like my docs are dismissing me for 'stress' because I have 3 kids, but that is absolutely not the case.  I look very healthy so no one takes me seriously.  I've also had constant infections since this began, but have no idea if that has any connection (eye, sinus, UTI, gum).

Someone HELP!

ya i have them everyday but there have been times with zero pain for a month but it all comes back.  i

it was just muscle but it did have some nerve fibers that the report mentions and says it was normal too.  Mine gets worse during menstration too.  but its confusing caus esome of the worse has been around other times too.

are you having this all over.  mine is from head to toe.

its hard for pain management cause they cant just stick me with some med since they dont know which nerve exactly.

its hard I know. you go thrugh so many scenarios..

Hi there.  I don't notice it worse when I'm sick, or with allergies (I have allergies year round).  I do notice it worse before menstration.  I don't know if you are male or female.  When you mentioned muscle biopsy, did it include a nerve biopsy also?  I don't know what my next step is, I'm so tired of my body feeling like carpet burn.  I was thinking about looking into Lyme disease further, since the normal tests aren't that accurate.  I am going to try to go to another neuro and see what happens there.  Do you have symptoms everyday?

See ya, Jen

well i have had them for 10 years now and worsend after flu shot in 2003.
a lot of sporadic buring like fire in skin and tingling crawling and lot of twitching and spasms.  also stabbing pain that jumps from one place to the either and lasts a few seconds.

I have had every test but no conclusion.

mri from top to bottom
emg
eeg
muscle biopsy
blood test
spinal tap

all come normal.

have you noticed if it gets worse if you get sick...like allergies or something.
