What do I need to do about my Syrinx?

I had a car wreck January 18th this year and was diagnosed with a concussion and severe whiplash. I had an MRI done February 22nd and got the results February 25th and they found a Syrinx in my thoracic spine from T6 to T9 with 4mm being greatest in diameter. Is this from the wreck and what should I do?

Hi Ryan and welcome to MedHelp.

A Syrinx typically will form where the iinjury occurred....such as whip lash in the cervical spine...since it is in your thoracic spine I wonder what other injuries you had.

A syrinx is not something they can do much for unless it is of a certain size as shunts and stents can be larger then the syrinx itself.

Here is a link to an article about syrinx's and shunts.....http://www.medhelp.org/user_journals/show/205805/Differnt-types-of-syrinxs-and-shunts--article-by-DrJJane-Jr--MD
