What is a sublenticular cyst???

Hi Anna,

I am 29 years old, suffered from ongoing sleep problems for a lifetime. I have been unsteady on my feet my entire life aswell and I have report cards that even state that fact: she often bumps in to walls etc!!! Kinda funny and sad. I have been off work since for a few months now the lack of sleep got so bad that I was unable to remember things, focus, I'd lose my words and make poor judgement calls etc. I also became very easily frustrated and brought to tears. I suffer headaches daily I'd say usually an 8 on 10 pain as well as the odd migrain. I suffer some neck and back pain as well (no idea why?). My vision has been getting progressively worse. I also catch every cold, flu, eye infection etc under the sun. In the last few months I did develope depression and the feeling of being lost, what can I do to improve the situation etc? The doctors had me on 17 pills a day and I was so stoned I couldnt think at all or function and still did not sleep even when given drugs like valum etc. They tried me on 3 pages worth of drugs with no success and now feeling defeated it must be the depression. Absolutely, I agree that depression can do horrible things to your body and immune system, but I cant imagine I was depressed when I was 2 or three??? No tests other then a few blood tests were done, I was treated only with drugs first. Kinda funny its like a mechanic taking out the motor before he knows its broke assuming thats the problem, when it was the altinator all along. I asked to see a sleep specialist again for the 4th time who found that I stay in stage 1 and 2 sleep and never get good quality deep sleep, I asked him for an mri as I have two family members with brian tumors, the mri showes (I HAVE A SMALL SUBLENTICULAR CYST ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE BRAIN). The dr didnt know what it was simply looked at the definition on wikipedia and said oh your fine. After doing my own research I beg to differ. I also have a history of MS I asked them to look into, now I am being met with rolling eyes and and whispers. I am concerned what is this and should I see a neurologist???

On the off chance you'll ever see this since your question was posted a decade ago, did you ever find an answer? Your story sounded very similar to mine and I was eventually diagnosed with central vertigo and narcolepsy without cataplexy. Even sleep doctors are often unfamiliar with the nuances of narcolepsy and fail to properly diagnose it, particularly when cataplexy is minimal or absent.
