White spots on My Brain

I had a MRI and MRA because I had a sagging right eye lid. This happened about 8 months ago, after having cateract surgery. The reading of the MRI/MRA stated "multiple foci of increased T2 signal abnormalities were seen in the subcortical white matter of the forntoparietal regions bilaterally. These findings are nonspecific and may be seen in ischemic micronangiopathy, vasulitis or demyelinating disease. Clinical corelation is indicated." The neurologist I saw told me it could be the beginning of MS or I had some mini strokes. He suggested that I have a spinal tap to determine if it was MS. He also said that if it was one of his family members, he would have the tap down right now but to be checked again in 1 yr. Also start taking 1 baby asprin a day.

I am in a total daze right now. What do you think and suggest I do? I have my x-rays and I want to get a second opinion.

I am very scared I have 4 children and a wonderful husband, I do not want to burden them or worry them about my head problems.I had a car accident while 6 months pregnant 3 years ago and I hit my head . I did not have any bad symptoms just a headache for a few months off and on. Once I had the problem "I thought resolved", I tried to move on however after my daughter was born I had this wiggly feeling in my left eye that would come and go, It would feel like something was in the eye and then pop. Now the eye is constant with a weird pressure and the left side of my head is always hurting with a pressure that is unexplainable. I had an MRI a year ago and they found white spots on my brain. My memory is bad, I can not write down words at times I can not retrieve peoples names and I am sooo tired. I have no insurance anymore and I do not have a way to get test done. PLease help me or tell me if you have the same symptoms. If this was because of the car accident or just a contributor I really do not care, I just want answers to what this could be. Perhaps the accident just agrivated what I had or it caused a ripple effect.

Thanks

Ang

Hi,   Have you been tested for lyme disease.    I picked it up from a tick , in 1996.    The state I live in it used to go undiagnosed.   So I went without treatment for  Two and a half years ,untill I finally forced my Fifth doctor to do the test. I knew I had lyme, I got sick a couple of weeks after finding a tick attached to me.  So,    It may be Lyme...  We outdoor types have a great risk.    The symptoms of Lyme and MS are very similer....       I've never fully recovered for lack of early detection and treatment.........And just a few days ago I was diagnosed with MS...   I've been reading up on it ,   The doctors are unsure of what causes MS,   but they beleive it  may be caused by a virus,,, or possibly Genetics....  Now I'm wondering if lyme disease might have caused my MS.    Try eating bananas they help with leg cramps and pain.    I hope you get better quickly,,,   best wishes Elli421                       ...................................................................................................................................  Heres a little about whats going on with me,,  I could use help also .   My MRI showed multiple white spots,  The neuroligists  , said it was MS.   My symptoms are very similer to some of the the others.  My right eye lid fell a year or so ago,and I've had alot of eye pain.  then in the begining of this year I started feeling like I had something tight wraped around my thoat, still there,  then I lost some of the feeling in my right ear,,,,,still that way,  and a couple of months ago my left side face got numb and painful,,,also still that way.     My question is,    does this go away with treatment?????        And does this sound like MS ?,   I have other things going wrong also.  I'm having the spinal MRI on the 3rd,   then Spinel tap on the 17th  , so its not absolute at this point.     I just now I' really sick feeling,,,,,,,Any help .....

Hello patientx

I just came from my neurolgist and he told me I didn't show any white spots in the spine. Which is good, but he still doesn't know why I have white spots on the brain. Then he said my blood suger was 114 which is high before eating. So to check back with my doctor to see if she want to do anythinbg about that. This still doen't explain why the white spots. The neurolgist said he could give me some kind of electro test. I'll just put that on hold until I see what my doctor say about the high blood suger.  I read High blood suger and cause tinging and numbness in the hands and feet. But this is in my own body. From head to toe somdays. I don't know what is going on and pray to God I find out. So why don't these doctors do a research an find out why people have white spots on the brain. My neurolgist don't think I have MS, because he didn't see white spot in my spine.

Has your neurologist told you why he doesn't think it is MS?  My situation is similar; tingling and numbness that has been fairly constant the last 3 months.  I will sometimes have a break for a few days, but it will return.  My brain MRI showed multiple spots in the white matter.  The neurologist who examined me doesn't think this is MS, and wants to do a 2nd MRI in a few months.  However, from what I've read, I beginning to think other neurologists would have said MS right away.

I have been trying to get long term care insurance after a scare with cervical spine surgery and leg problems.  I insisted after my surgery that I have an mri of my brain to check for ms.  Dr told me NO ms is present and that there is just some "wear and tear" of my brain which is normal for my age (i am 56 yrs old).  the insurance company just got the report of my mri and THEY said that the report states that their is giliosis of the brain (white non-specific matter around the central nervous system) which I looked up and it says that this is indicative of ms or stroke.  I am furious that my dr has ignored this and dismissed my symptoms as "mental" even though I seem to be getting worse.  I have started carpooling to work as I am having trouble driving home after working all day.  Any suggestions, anyone???  I made an appointment with my neurologist for Tuesday to discuss this with him.  I need to know what to ask.  I am petrified about having a spinal tap.

I was told I had white spots on my brain after an mri. I have tinging, numbness, legs, arms, face, feet, hands, basicly all over. When I have a bad day it's almost everywhere. It is always somwhere each day. I just had more test done. MRI of my spine. Doctor checking to see if I have white spots in spine. He does not know at this point what is causing the white spots. So I don't know if the white spots are causing the problems I'm having or if the problems are causing the white spots.

Hi.

Do you experience any other symptoms aside from the sagging right eye lid? It would be premature to consider multiple sclerosis as your diagnosis just based on this symptom and the non-specific MRI findings.

If you are uncomfortable at the thought of a spinal tap being done, you could talk to your neurologist about other tests that could be done. Or you could opt to get a second opinion from another neurologist.

Good luck.
