Wondering what to do..

I had meniscus surgery in 2007, last Thursday my aunts dogs got out and I had to run about a block from her house trying to get them. I was find that day, later that night I started developing sharp, dull pain in the back of my knee. I would walk and my knee would give out on me. 4 days later when taking the steps I have to take one by one if I put any pressure or weight on my knee I am in a lot of pain and it feels like it will give out on me. I am fine walking around the house for a few minutes but than have to sit down as it feels like the knee is going to give out. When I get up from a chair it feels like I have something pulling in my knee and it has pain.

I dont know what to do, I am unsure if I tore my meniscus again or If I am just bruised. I dont know if I should go have an xray or give it more time to see if it gets better. Anyone have any suggestions on what I should do? I am nervous about going to a surgeon because when I had the surgery in 2007, I developed blood clots in my leg and several in my lungs. Please help with suggestions!

Well I decided to do what you suggested. I went to the insta care that day and they are about 99% sure I tore my meniscus. They put me in a brace and I am going to a surgeon tomorrow. The doctor said that if it didnt clear up by my surgeon appt than it means that it is serious. Well it hasnt cleared up, I am in quite a bit of pain and it feels like something is stuck in my knee making it hard to walk. Im keeping my fingers crossed for my appt tomorrow. Thank you for your suggestions it really helped me.

Since you have a known history of knee problems I would recommend you see a Ortho Specialist ASAP!

I wouldn't worry about whether you need additional surgery; deal with that when that time comes.  You might not need it.
