I don't know what the science has found but my husband was taking dilantin alone and his libdo was fine. Unfortunatly, his seizure disorder worsened. Once the neurontin was added, his seizures stopped, but soon afterwards his libido dwindled then diminished. Completely. He's very sleepy and has totally lost his zest for life. He doesn't even want to play music anymore or engage in sports. Just an observation. I'm very relieved that his seizures are under control, but I miss my husband.
Concerned wife.
A total shot in the dark here. I'm a 54-year old female. I took neurontin for five years, and lost what little libido I had during that period. About the time I quit taking Neurontin I began taking omega-3 supplements and my libido came roaring back. Apparently omega-3 helps build testosterone which helps the libido. The only side effect to omega-3's we've found in my family is that for my daughter they can cause nosebleeds--if bleeding is an issue for you might want to check with your doctor--otherwise it's an over-the-counter supplement. We buy Omega-Brites which are formulated by a group of doctors in Boston--google for their web page.
