bit my tongue

I bit my tongue over a week ago;  right at the back where the tongue meets the neck / throat.  Immediately I felt a presence of something on the left side of my head.  Almost feels like I can trace a circle from back of my ear up thru my head to front of the ear, including the throat on the left side only.  My scalp in that area is so sensitive to touch, feels like my hair hurts. I actually had a hair appt. and thought I would cry when she brushed or touched that side of my head .  now the ear (L) is painful to touch and I can feel discomfort down to my left should blade and arm.  The skin feels like it's been rug burned..  ??  I notified my dentist and he prescribed a mouthwash rinse,  it had a little quick relief but it's now going on ten days ..
