i have a resident in a nursing home, she's on her late 60s year old. she have DM. before dinner, the nurse checked her blood sugar level and it was 70. the nurse tried to offer some softdrinks to try to bring up the sugar. after 2 sips the resident stated that she is feeling weird. the started seizing. i was called by another nurse to go to the room to check the resident. when i went there, she was still seizing, her body was trembling, muscles were twitching then suddenly she calm down the manifested the classic textbook signs and symptoms of stroke: body weakness/paralysis, unresponsive to any stimuli, unconscious. after 15 to 30 minutes, she started to respond, can communicate/talk and recognize people around her but the muscle twitching did not stop like every other 3 seconds. hours later she had another attack of seizure then followed by stroke like symptoms. then after few minutes she would slowly regain consciousness but still she have the muscle twitching of her body every other 3 seconds. it is like is is on constant seizure. what do you think? did she had stroke or seizure which resulted to stroke? by the way, she is DNR DNH that's why we did not send her to the hospital.
